Festive Teddies Bring Christmas Cheer

At the Wild’s home game against Coventry Blaze in early December, spectators were invited to bring along soft toys to be donated and given to local children who would be in hospital over the festive period.

The annual “Teddy Toss” generated over 200 gifts to be handed out and Widnes Wild Academy manager and community development officer Mikey Gilbert went to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool and Halton Hospital in Runcorn to make the deliveries.

Any toys that were not suitable to be given to children were taken to local dogs homes – the Dogs’ Trust in Liverpool and the RSCPA centres in Liverpool and Warrington – to ensure that all of the gifts went to good causes where they would be appreciated.
