Fan’s Favourite Cal Wants More Goals

ULTIMATE WINDOWS-sponsored Billingham Stars today announce the return of last season’s Supporters Player of the Year, Callum Davies.

Cal Celebrates

24-year-old Davies will be entering his sixth season with Billingham having joined from the Northern Stars ‘half’ of the 2011 merger. Last season saw the fan’s favourite centre a line with usual partner-in-goals Michael Elder and new linemate Chris Sykes, the trio eventually coming out as the Stars most productive line. Davies’ immense work rate and willingness to leave it all out there on the ice helped him to capture the Coaches Player of the Year award to go alongside his Supporters trophy – two more to add to his collection of at least one award every season!

Davies described his partnership with Elder and Sykes as ‘effortless’ as he put pen to paper for another season:

“It’s always nice to be recognised for your performances throughout the season and it’s especially nice to coming from both the coaches and the fans. It meant a lot to me. Personally I was happy with my performance last season but as long as the team are performing I’m more than happy. And the main focus building from last season is obviously to achieve the playoff spot.

The only aspect that I would look to improve on is to chip in with a few more goals. It’s always nice to score but if Mickey and Sykes continue with their game I’m sure points will come easy. I feel like we clicked as soon as we were put together, knowing where each other are on the ice came effortlessly and we all seemed to chip in with different areas, whether that be going forward or playing defensively.

The Stars seemed to play a pretty solid game in my opinion for the best part of the season, there were just a few periods where we seemed to switch off that ultimately proved costly to our season in the end. The goal for next season is silverware as simple as that and to continue where we left off last season. The playoffs is the main goal after missing out last year. I don’t feel like there’s a lot that needs to change, just a bit of added focus and concentration where necessary and I’m sure it’ll carry us to the playoffs and hopefully a League title.”
