Fan favourite Stuey Ashton stands firm

We are delighted to announce that netminder Stuart Ashton will be returning to the Hawks for the 2015/2016 season.

Stuart had an amazing season last year and was the worthy winner of the HawksF5 player of the year award. He was instrumental in ensuring an unbeaten season for the Hawks in the league championship and has quickly proved himself as a top-notch netminder.

With a GAA of just 1.77 Stuart has the best statistics of any netminder in the league for last season, which is very encouraging when looking forward to September.

Coach Daniel MacKriel is building an unyielding line of defence for the Hawks which has been further strengthened by the addition of Stuart.

“I’m delighted Stu agreed to commit for another year. He was one of the first names I knew I had to contact for returning players. He had a great season last year and I thought that he enhanced his reputation as an excellent goalie – I want Stu to challenge Dangie even more this season and really push for that number 1 spot. The message is simple, it doesn’t matter who the players are, the ones that perform the best will get more ice time and further chance to impress – assistant coach and coach included!

With Stuart signing I believe we have the best netminding combination in the league.” said coach MacKriel.
