Erik Piatak Joins Phantoms

The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms have tonight announced the signing of Slovakian Forward Erik Piatak for the upcoming 2013/14 English Premier League season.

Piatak joins the Cambridgeshire club having played last season in the Slovakian leagues, finishing the season with HC Nitra. The former Slovakian U18 and U20 International, has played hi whole career in his native Slovakia apart from the 2009-10 season when he played for Montpellier in the French League.

Piatak played alongside former Phantom Erik Biochna last season, whilst having a loan spell at HC 46 Bardejov, aswell as durig the 2010-11 season.

Speaking on Wednesday evening, Phantoms Head Coach Jon Kynaston said “Erik is an excellent two-way centre who is more than capable of scoring 40 goals in an EPL season. He has great pedigree and will be a fine addition to our squad.

“He is much more than merely being a goalscorer though as he possesses a strong all-round game. We’ve done our homework on him and all the reports we’ve had back told us that Erik would be a good fit for the club.

“He has played at the top level in Slovakia where the standard would be a tough above our Elite League. I truely believe Erik will be one of the top players in our league this season, and we’re glad to have him here in Peterborough.”
