ENTP: coaches and managers wanted to join England programme

With the announcement of Ben Pitchley as the head coach of the England National Team Programme (ENTP) for the next two years, we are pleased to announce the next stage in the development of the programme.

We have now established a robust relationship with the Education Programme, combining our roles and combining our skills, knowledge and experience to provide a truly outstanding development pathway for our young athletes.

The collaboration also provides opportunities for greater synergy between the coaching and education of coaches and managers of the ENTP. As a result of this new approach we are looking to recruit coaches and managers.

This is an exciting opportunity for the EIHA’s best talent to apply for positions within the ENTP, so If you think you have the necessary skills and experience to help us further develop the programme, please submit your application and tell us why you think you should be selected. We will require a current Hockey CV, as well as a covering letter. Don’t forget to mention any outside interests or work related experience that may assist in your application.

References will be sought for the short-listed candidates. There are opportunities at every level and at all age groups; we would really like to hear from you.

Post Requirements


All successful shortlisted candidates will need to meet the following requirements:-


  • Currently coaching at club level.
  • Bench management
  • You must have at least 2 years’ experience of operating at head coach level.
  • You must also have at least 2 years’ experience at Conference level.
  • You must have experience of leading the development and implementation of exercises and drills to
    enhance player capability .


  • You must hold a level 2 coaching certificate.
  • It is desirable to hold a Level 3 certificate but not essential.


  • must have knowledge skills-based development.
  • Successful practice planning.
  • Coaching principles and practice models.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection & Safeguarding


  • Report writing
  • Presentation skills
  • Communication skills
  • Drill development
  • Team working skills
  • Leadership Skills


All successful managers will need to meet the following:-


  • Currently working at club level
  • You must have 2 years experience of managing a team.
  • Experience of managing difficult situations.
  • You must have experience of working with conflicting priorities


  • Although no formal qualifications are required the successful candidate will need to be familiar with
    systems and process to support the sharing, gathering and processing information.
  • You will need to be
    familiar with spreadsheets & data bases and the management of information processes.
  • All Applicants must be a valid EIHA Level 1 manager and will be required to complete a Level 2 managers course and further CPD allotted training to maintain position.

Closing date for applications is 12 noon on Saturday June 15th, and interviews for successful candidates will be at a central location in England at date to be confirmed. The ENTP season will commence with our first camps over the weekend of 24th & 25th August 2019.
