Eihl: Flames forward Davies: GB in a positive frame of mind at Elite level of World Championship play
Forward Ben Davies says the frame of mind is positive as Great Britain get ready for their third game at the World Championship in Slovakia.
After no game at the tournament today, GB return to action tomorrow when they face Denmark at 4:15pm (3:15pm UK) in the Steel Arena.
GB – playing in the top flight for the first time in 25 years – have lost their opening two matches including last night’s 8-0 defeat by number one seeds Canada.
However, Davies says that has not made a different to the spirit in the dressing room.
“We have plenty of positives to take from the first two games,” said Davies.
“We feel we gave Germany a really tough test and that proved we can compete at this level.
“Last night’s game was something totally different. It was just an experience to be out there on the ice with some of the best players in the world.
“Yes, we would like to have done better but I felt we gave everything we had in the tank.”
Tomorrow’s opponents Denmark beat France in a shootout before losing to Germany and have two points from two matches.
“Despite the Danes not having the best start, they will be another tough opposition for us,” added Davies.
“But, if we play like we have done so far, I know we will make an impact here.”
