Glasgow Clan captain Zack Fitzgerald says he is excited for this weekend’s playoff quarter finals against the Guildford Flames.
The Glasgow side are on the road at the only Elite League venue they’ve never won in for the first leg of their play-off quarter final, with a place in next week’s finals weekend in Nottingham at stake.
Fitzgerald, a play-off winner with Sheffield Steelers two years ago, was pleased to come into these games on the back of a much-needed win last week and revealed he may give a speech prior to the big games.
“I certainly will be a voice in the room before the game,” he said. ” We have a lot of guys who talk and motivate and I like to be that guy who keeps things positive.
“As the captain, I also want to make sure the group is confident and that’s important. I want the guys to know exactly what they need to do and push each other through it.
“I haven’t decided if I’ll do a speech or something, but if I do, I’ll keep it consistent with how I’ve been and say the right things and do the right things on the ice.
“We came through a tough time, with the losses we had, but to get the win against Fife last Sunday was huge for us and gives us a good leap into the play-offs.
“We didn’t play terribly in that run, but certain things weren’t going our way. We were doing things right most of the time, but it was disappointing we didn’t get more wins.
“Now it’s the best time of the year. Everybody’s putting their body on the line and fighting for the trophy. It’s a fun experience and we all live for this.”
