Coventry Blaze are excited to welcome back defenceman Dillon Eichstadt for the 2021/22 Elite League season. The 27-year-old registered 29 points (four goals, 25 assists) in 47 regular season games over 2019/20 with the Blaze which was his first-year pro.Eichstadt joined the Blaze direct from the NCAA where he spent four years icing for his hometown Bemidji State University. In 134 NCAA games, the American blue-liner posted 32 points (six goals, 26 assists), proving to be a consistent plus player and was twice named to the WCHA All-Academic team.In 2016/17, Eichstadt was a NCAA (WCHA) regular season champion and the following year named an alternate captain who was a regular on the BSU penalty-kill that led the WCHA.Eichstadt’s hockey career began at Bemidji High School before three years of junior hockey including a season with Sioux Falls Stampede where he was a USHL Clark Cup Champion.Head Coach Danny Stewart said: “When we found out Eichs wanted to play again, we jumped all over it. He was great for us in his rookie season. He adds to our already mobile D-group and adds some continuity back there. He’s an elite skater and puck mover. He has the ability to play all situations and we felt will be even better in his second season.”
