Downing departs following fresh job role
20 year old forward Sebastian Downing has departed the Dynamos after a new job opportunity has considerably restricted his availability for hockey.
Sebastian Downing joined the Dynamos in the summer having spent a year across the pond in Canada and quickly became a favourite of the supporters with his excellent work rate and lightning speed. The forward’s forechecking was frequently the bane of opposing teams and often helped force turnovers and provide chances for his line-mates. However, after 29 outings and 5 assists for the Mos, Downing is unable to finish the 2017/18 season having been offered a new job opportunity that considerably restricts his availability.
Speaking on the departure of Sebastian Downing, Head Coach Kevin Parrish said, “Seb has genuinely given his all for the Dynamos shirt and for that we are very grateful. His determination, work rate and speed have been an asset throughout the season and naturally we’re disappointed to lose him. However we’d like to thank him for his efforts in a Mos jersey and wish him all the best in his new ventures”.
Given the timing of Downing’s departure the Mos are unable to source a replacement for the remaining six league ties and upcoming playoff campaign. The team are next in action during a double header road weekend with Saturday seeing them travel to Cardiff to take on the Fire before a Sunday matchup in Streatham.
