Do or Die Skins
There are no second chances, no reprieves and a choice of two routes; progress to the semi finals or pack up the kit and end the season.
Streatham will have to overcome a strong Wightlink team who finished second in the league this year, and are the only side the Redskins have yet to register a win against in 2012/13 despite six fixtures between the clubs so far this year in all competitions.
“There is no denying it will be tough” said Redskins defenseman David Carr.
“I do think though we have the look of a Play Off team. We don’t have the depth at the moment to win the league over 30 plus games but in a head to head clash I don’t think anyone will want to play us”
“Obviously league placings do not lie, but if we all turn up to play on both nights there is no reason why we cannot end our bad form against the Raiders. We will have our fantastic band of fans with us on the island on Saturday and then hopefully Brixton will be pumping for the second leg on Sunday”
“When you think that last season we entered the final weekend of the season simply looking to survive relegation, it is a pretty good feeling to be looking forward to some Play-Off hockey this time round. Warren (Coach Warren Rost) could not have done any more to prepare us for the weekend and it is now up to us all to make sure we come off the ice knowing we gave it our best shot”
Streatham travel to Wightlink on Saturday with a coach leaving the old rink on Streatham High Road at 12pm (fare £25 including ferry). The home game in Brixton on Sunday has a face off at 18.45 and if the Redskins fail to progress, will be the final game of the 2012/13 season.
