Dippnall Requests Release
It is with great disappointment that the RTL Widnes Wild have to announce that on Saturday Shaun Dippnall requested his release from the club.
Commenting on the situation, player-coach Ollie Barron said;
“I was both surprised and disappointed when my team captain contacted me on the eve of our first game saying he wanted to leave the club. Shaun said that he didn’t feel he had a very productive last season at Widnes and wasn’t enjoying his hockey. I personally think that this season playing on the proposed line with Elvis and Bobby, Shaun would have done very well.”
“That said you have to remember Shaun has been a great servant of the club and that all of the players give their time and commitment freely to play the sport they love. I believe Shaun will play for another club this season and I wish him well for the future, and thank him for his time playing for Widnes Wild.”
“I will be looking to bring in a additional player to the squad, but won’t rush any decisions, until I find the right fit. I will also be announcing a new club captain before our league campaign starts next weekend.”
On behalf of everyone at the club we would like to thank Dippy for his four seasons in a Wild shirt and wish him good luck in his future endeavours.
