Dax Hedges returns for the new season

Many fans at Oxpens Road will be happy to see Hedges back in a Stars jersey after having played for Oxford City Stars since the 2008/09 season. As well as his longevity and commitment to the club, Hedges has also established himself as the Stars alternate captain over the past two season.

While Hedges did sustain an injury last season that kept him out of playing for a while, he is a real team player and he is a good playmaker who brings a lot of spirit onto the ice with him every time he plays.

Speaking about signing for the Stars again this season, Hedges said “I’m really looking forward to another season with the Stars and the challenges ahead, especially working with the younger players looking to make the step up”.

Oxford City Stars new Head of Hockey Operations, Darryl Morvan, also spoke about Hedges returning to the team: “Dax is another player who very much hits the spot in regards to what a typical Oxford player is. Hardworking, honest, selfless, a great team guy and willing to do what is required to get the job done. I worked with him when he was in the juniors and he was somebody who, as a coach, I knew I could depend on to be a “go to” guy in the tight games and who would always lead by example. I’m very happy that we’ve secured him as I know other clubs were courting him and from speaking to him I know he’s excited about the coming season and the tie in with the junior club so that opportunities can be given to young athletes, in the way he was given that same opportunity”.
