Davis disappointed by Raiders reverse
London Raiders captain Tom Davis was extremely disappointed by his side’s National League loss against Bracknell at the weekend.
Jakub Kostelansky’s powerplay goal cancelled out JJ Pitchley’s opening goal for the visitors, with Grant Taylor putting Raiders ahead in the second period.
Former Raider Pitchley got Hornets back on terms soon after, but Alan Lack gave the hosts a 3-2 lead at the 40-minute mark when tipping in from close range as the buzzer sounded.
But having taken seven points from a possible 10 in their previous five outings, to raise hopes of a play-off place, Raiders could not hold onto their advantage as Daniel Hughes struck twice in the final session for a 4-3 Bracknell victory.
Davis said: “Bracknell wasn’t a great weekend for us. On the night we could have been the far better team, but we didn’t show up as a team.
“Bracknell are a team not to be taken lightly as they will punish you.â€
Raiders travel to the Isle of Wight this weekend to take on their namesakes, who beat leaders Chelmsford 4-0 last weekend before it was confirmed their Ryde Arena was to close next month.
Davis misses the trip himself, but wishes his team-mates well, adding: “This weekend I’m off to New York with the family and fiancé.
“I should really be on the Isle of Wight, but everyone deserves a mid-season holiday. After all it has been a rocky season.
“But my dad and I will wish all the boys the best of luck and to bring the two points home.â€
