Hamilton joins the Giants from Graz 99ers where he was top 5 for total points and goals scored for the Austrian side after posting 17 goals and 23 assists, good for 40 points in 54 EBEL games. He helped Graz to the playoff semi-finals where they lost to eventual winners EC KAC.

He played his junior hockey for the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League and was selected in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. Hamilton scored four goals in seven games for Team Canada on their way to a Silver medal at the 2011 World Junior Championship.

Hamilton made his professional debut in the AHL for Oilers’ affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons. In 2014/15 Hamilton received his first NHL call up on 9th April 2015 against the San Jose Sharks. The call up followed his first appearance in the Spengler Cup for Team Canada in December 2014.

In 2015/16 Hamilton moved his career to Europe and began with HC Sparta Prague of the Czech Extraliga, assisting his team to the playoff finals, losing in six games to Bílí Tygři Liberec – who the Giants will face in this year’s Champions Hockey League.

Hamilton iced the following two seasons in Finland and his impressive form earned a call up to Team Canada for the 2017 Spengler Cup. He scored in the tournament’s opening game and went on to help Team Canada clinch their 15th championship with a 3-0 win over Switzerland in the final.

Curtis Hamilton spoke with Davy McGimpsey, A View From The Bridge, official podcast of the Giants:

“The more Adam Keefe spoke with me over the Summer, the more he sold Belfast to me – the hockey program, the city and by the end of it it was an easy decision for me.”

“I play both wings, love to score, check and play good defence – I want to do what it takes to win. Playing Champions League is an added bonus for me.”
