Compton Back In Net For Dragons

Head Coach Paul, who is assembling a side to compete in the upper reaches of the league, is delighted to have secured Compton’s return.
He said: “Matt is a guy with a huge amount of experience, both at this level and higher up the league pyramid. His stats from last season show what a great talent we have on our hands.
“Any netminder who has a save percentage of over .9 is going to be a matchwinner in this league. But again, it isn’t just about statistics on the ice.
“Like James Parsons, Matt has this club in his blood. He will be another leader for us in the dressing room. That is going to be crucial for us next season.”
The appointment of Compton is a timely capture for the club’s defensive ranks, as Paul looks to balance the firepower of Parsons and Filip Supa.
Matt Wainwright and skipper Marc Lovell are already part of that impressive-looking back line, with more to follow over coming weeks.
Paul added: “The guys coming into this team will be expected to do good job, night in, night out. Already, I’ve got five guys who will be the core of our squad.
“Retaining local talent is a priority for me, as they’re the players who kept this club going. But I also want to bring in more guys who can help us fight for silverware.
“Up front, we are going to be very talented, but that has to be balanced with experience in defence. A netminder like Matt is an important part of our strategy.
“This summer is probably the most exciting of my career, and as the season draws closer, it is going to get much better.”
