Colvin to come back for second season
19 year old forward Louis Colvin will spend a second consecutive season with the Invicta Dynamos after the skater penned a new deal keeping him in Gillingham for the 2018/19 campaign.
Prior to his first year in Kent with the Mos, Louis Colvin came through the junior setup in Guildford where he was an alternate captain and then captain for the under 16s. In 2015, aged 16, he opted to test himself abroad and flew across the Atlantic to join up with the Ontario Hockey Academy and play Midget Hockey. After 38 points in 57 games he remained with the organisation the following term, this time icing in the Hockey Eastern Ontario Midget AAA (HEOMAAA) division where he played a further 44 fixtures and tallied another 31 points.
Come 2017/18 Louis Colvin was back in the UK and Invicta Dynamos Head Coach Kevin Parrish secured his services to give him a first taste of senior hockey. In his debut NIHL season the young forward missed just 1 of 42 fixtures across 3 competitions and showed great determination and versatility playing across a range of lines in a demanding campaign. The forward amassed 18 points – finding the net on 6 occasions whilst chipping in with 12 assists – and was an infrequent visitor to the penalty box with just 4 PIMS to his name. His displays impressed his Head Coach with Kevin Parrish singling him out for the ‘Coach’s Player of the Year’ award at the end of season presentation evening. Now he returns to the Mos for a second consecutive term looking to continue his development and make an even bigger impression in the NIHL South’s top tier.
Speaking on the re-signing of Louis Colvin, Head Coach Kevin Parrish said, “Louis is an excellent young player with a fantastic work ethic, great determination and plenty of ability. Last season I selected him for the ‘Coach’s Player of the Year’ award and I think that highlights the contribution I feel he makes to the side. With a full NIHL season now under his belt I fully expect him to continue his development and further make his mark at this level. He has all the attributes to be a top player for us – he links up well with his teammates, his work rate is excellent and he is an example to any young players wanting to break through. I look forward to working with Louis again from September and to seeing his continued growth as a player.”
Louis Colvin will continue to wear the number 81 jersey for the Dynamos and is the third player to make the club’s roster ahead of 2018/19 following the off season signings of netminder Adam Long and forward Joe Allen. News of another teammate will be revealed later this week.
