Colin Shields Remains Focused For Saturday’s Devils Clash

The Stena Line Belfast Giants all-time leading points scorer is current forward Colin Shields and the 2013/14 Elite league season has been yet another productive season for the Scot. In 34 games played, Shields has posted 10 goals and 19 assists, good for 29 points. However the forward is in a determined mood ahead of the second half of the season to help the Giants organisation re-claim the Elite League championship once again, especially following Saturday’s loss to the Dundee Stars – Belfast’s first loss in 10 games, “It’s disappointing anytime you lose a game, but we’re pretty happy with the run,” said Shields. “But we’re not satisfied with where we are at at the moment, we want to keep building on what we have already and look forward to the second half of the season.”

“It’s game by game right now, we just need to pick up as many points as we can, we want to pick up maximum points from every game we play and take care of our own business.”

On Saturday night, Shields and his teammates will take to the Odyssey Arena ice to clash with the Cardiff Devils, who will arrive in Belfast following an impressive 7-3 win against the Fife Flyers in the Challenge Cup Quarter Final 1st Leg and knowing that they are one of only three teams to defeat the Giants in Belfast this season, “Cardiff is a team that have had an up and down season but they’re a team who gave us two tough games at home already this season and we’ve been preparing pretty hard for this weekend.”

Tickets are available for this Saturday’s clash with the Devils at the Odyssey Arena, face-off 7pm. Fans can purchase their tickets from the Odyssey Arena Box Office in person or by calling (028) 9073 9074 or online at Ticketmaster.
