Colin Shields In Confident Mood For Team GB

Stena Line Belfast Giants forward Colin Shields is confident Great Britain will improve following their opening-day defeat by Croatia at the World Championship (Division 1B) in Vilnius.

GB were beaten 4-0 on Sunday afternoon as Croatia netminder Mate Tomljenovic secured a 33-shot shutout.

Shields said: “No doubt about it we will improve, I am sure about that. There were positives to take from the game, especially the way we started.

“But Croatia were excellent going forward and took their chances. They played a great game. Yes, we are disappointed but we won’t stay downhearted. We have a great bunch of lads.

“The spirit is still strong and we are looking forward to game two.”

There’s play-by-play coverage on GB against Romania (11am UK time) on Monday via the BBC Sport website and live television on Premier Sports TV.
