Coach Adey Ready For Road Trip Weekend
The Stena Line Belfast Giants return to action this Saturday and Sunday – to face the Fife Flyers and Coventry Blaze. The Elite League Champions currently lead by 24 points over the second placed Sheffield Steelers and this weekend’s road trip to Scotland and England pits the Giants up against potential playoff opposition in the Flyers and the Blaze.
The Fife Flyers currently sit in 9th position, however they are the League’s inform team – having won six straight games and trail the 8th placed Cardiff Devils by two points. The Blaze lie in 7th position in the standings and this weekend could have a huge bearing on the Giants Play-Off Quarter Final opponents.
“Fife will come out pretty hard and they like to put you under pressure,” said Paul Adey. “It’s going to be a tough game for us for sure.”
“Coventry is never easy, a small rink, not a lot of room but we’ve been solid in the smaller rinks this season but we’ll go in there to play a good game again.”
The Belfast Giants have a streak of their own, winning thirteen games in-a-row with the organisation’s last regulation loss on 3rd December – a run stretching 25 games. Despite clinching the title on 16th February with ten games remaining, Paul Adey and his team are determined to keep their rich vein of form going, ”You’re playing a game and you want to go out and win,” said Adey. “Our guys are competitive and they hate losing – that will not change this weekend, we’re going out to try to win some more points.”
