Coach Adey Excited By Team Work & Team Wins

The Stena Line Belfast Giants took full points from two tough games against the Hull Stingrays and Sheffield Steelers last weekend. The wins see the Giants move four points clear at the top of the Elite League and the team are currently on a three game winning streak. With six goals scored and only two conceded during the two games – it was a pleasing weekend for Head Coach Paul Adey, especially Sunday’s win in Sheffield:

“It was two big games for us and two big wins. We have momentum right now and we’re playing well. The guys have a positive attitude on the road and it was another tremendous performance.”

Paul Adey commented that he thought the good run of results was down to complete team performances a few players coming into their own including Jeffrey Szwez who scored a goal and added two assists during the valuable win against the Steelers:

“We’re improving as the season goes along. Some of our players who maybe had slower start than predicted have picked it up and contributed more. Szwez’s performance tonight (Sunday v Sheffield) made a difference – he’s very determined right now and he’s doing a great job for us. But I don’t want to just give credit to any one guy in particular, I think our performances on the road have been down to team work and great team performances.”

The Giants defence proved to be a solid wall during the weekends games with a shutout in Hull on Saturday and another impressive display against the Steelers

“Elfring and Brookwell are very good together – they really compliment each other. Elfring is very experienced but this is Brookwell’s first season in Europe, he plays hard for 60 minutes every night. He’s a quality defenceman and i’ve been so impressed with him since the start of season.”
