CLUB STATEMENT | Director Departs

Paul was a key partner along with Russell Shrives and James Schall in taking control of the Stars in May 2016, and since then Paul has been pivotal in his role in pushing and delivering a much-improved relationship with Oxford Ice Rink. At the end of the season, Russell and James will start to investigate opportunities for appointing additional board members during the close season.

Director Schall said, “We’ve been working with Paul over the last few weeks about what’s right for him personally.  It’s a huge ask to run an Ice Hockey team and it’s been one heck of a 6 months for all of us. We’re really grateful to Paul for his huge work and efforts in helping the Stars grow since the takeover”.

Paul Lynch added, “I have enjoyed my short time with the Stars and have had the pleasure of meeting and working alongside some fantastic people. The club has made some massive progress this season, and I am positive with the people involved the club it will continue to grow.

“This was a very difficult decision to make but one I felt I had to due to work and family commitments; I was finding it increasingly hard to give the time that is required to be productive within my role. I would like to thank volunteers, sponsors, players, fans and the coach for all the support I received during my time with the club, it is hugely appreciated. I would like to wish the club and all involved the very best for the rest of this season and many more.”

Club Director Russell Shrives commented, “Paul is a force of nature and we’ll miss him enormously, but I’d like to reassure all fans that the army of volunteers and especially the recent additions in fan liaison, marketing and sponsorship have enabled us to steady the ship. I hope to see Paul enjoying our games as a supporter for our future games.

Oxford City Stars would like to thank Paul Lynch and family for their efforts, and look forward to seeing them at Oxpens Road cheering the team on.
