Clan looking to make swift coaching appointment

Braehead Clan Hockey & Operations Director Gareth Chalmers confirmed the club are looking to move quickly in their appointment of a new head coach.

Having joined the club only ten months ago, the decision was taken on Monday morning to part company with head coach John Tripp following the club’s failure to make the playoffs.

“We certainly didn’t expect to be in this position for the second time in twelve months, however we felt it was important to act swiftly and decisively following the bitterly disappointing season.

“The ownership and management, like everyone else connected with this club, crave success on the ice so it’s important we acknowledge this season won’t be accepted.

“Last year it took far too long to make an appointment for varying reason’s and our focus is to get the right individual in place as quickly as possible, to allow them to get straight down to recruiting an exciting and competitive team for the 2018/19 season.

“We have a number of targets in mind and are already in discussions with them regarding the role. We have also already had a lot of interest in the position from around the hockey world.”
