Clan get ready to ‘Rumpel’, with new netminder

Braehead Clan are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian netminder Joel Rumpel for the 2018/19 season.

The 27-year-old, 6′ 3″ shot stopper joins from the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies where he finished the 2017/18 season.

The Saskatchewan native, is a two time Kelly Cup Champion with the Allen Americans and was a Hobey Baker Finalist during his time with the University of Wisconsin.

“I am delighted to add netminder Joel Rumpel to our roster for the season ahead” confirmed Clan head coach Pete Russell.

“Joel has great size, plays big, competes and has a great character. It’s an important position and I looked at many options but I kept coming back to Joel as I really liked what I’d seen and heard.

“He had an unreal college career and now has three years of pro under his belt. Joel will be a big player for us and I can’t wait to work with him.

“He is a great age and is so hungry to start the next stage of his career in Europe. I am delighted such a quality netminder has chosen the EIHL and the Clan!”
