Glasgow Clan’s Chief Operating Officer Gareth Chalmers has hailed Pete Russell and his team heading into an exciting week for the club.
The Clan head into Tuesday’s home game against the Dundee Stars knowing a point can confirm their fifth Gardiner Conference title in seven season’s.
Then only 48 hours later, the Clan will travel across the Irish Sea to face the Belfast Giants in the Challenge Cup semi-final with Glasgow leading 2-1 after the first leg.
“We’ve got a big week coming up when you take into account the Gardiner Conference and the Challenge Cup semi-final” confirmed Chalmers.
“Pete and the team deserve total credit for what they’ve done this season, they’ve quietly gone about their business but they’ve certainly brought the feel good factor back to the club.
“After the huge disappointment of last season, to be sitting in fourth spot in the EIHL, to have the chance of claiming back the Gardiner Conference title and be in the running for the Challenge Cup final is outstanding.
“Pete has brought an identity, a hard working exciting brand of hockey and that was ultimately what we wanted. Thereafter as we progress anything else is a bonus and one Pete and the guys must be applauded for.
“Whatever happens this week, the future is an exciting one and I am sure like me the whole Purple Army is looking forward to the ride!”
