Cardiff Fire 5 Bristol Pitbull’s 1
Fire took their winning streak to 8 games on the bounce, overcoming local rivals the Bristol Pitbull’s in what was an ill-tempered affair.
The tone was set early on by Bristol with a horrible hit to the head on David Sadler that went unpunished by the referees. Tempers quickly flared with Dave Christian dropping the gloves following the hit. David Sadler also dropped the gloves following the hit and was ejected from the game. David suffered quite server whiplash after the hit and a cut to the eye that required stitching.
It was Bristol that took the lead through former Cardiff player Grant Richardson. A poor breakdown in defence from the Fire lead to the goal. Following the fights and going a goal down Fire stepped up the tempo and finished the period with 22 shots against Miller but the period ended 0-1 to Bristol. More fighting during the period Saw Jackson Price drop the gloves and Bristol coach/owner also ejected from the game for a 3rd man in call.
The second period is where Fire started to gel. A powerplay opportunity after 6 mins of the 2nd period gave the Fire the chance to level things up and Jordon Powell obliged with an unassisted goal. With their tails up Robert Sedlak scored the go-ahead goal after 30 mins of play with assists going to Sam Bryant and Jordon Powell.
2 goals early in the 3rd period by Tamas Elias and Dave Christian all but put the game to bed for the Fire. There was more action to come though as the 3rd period was a physical encounter. Josh Haslam truly put the game to bed with a superb solo effort finishing neatly on Miller. Ross Wilkinson wanting to avenge the hit on Sadler dropped the gloves with Sam Shone for the last bit of action of the game.
Fire now stretch the unbeaten record to 8 games as they look for 3 trophies this season.
