McKenzie bagged two goals at the Guildford Spectrum as Telford overcame a Flames side that many have tipped to challenge for this season’s title.

The result represented a personal triumph for the Tigers skipper, who has now collected 29 points in all competitions, following an early-season slump.

“My line mates played a big part in the goals I scored tonight,” he said.

“I was with Miller and Davies, and they made sure I had a lot of chances to put away. It is always nice when you have players like that on a line with you.

“You always play with confidence and over the last few weeks I have put a nice scoring run together. I’ve managed to bear down and take my chances.

“That has given me confidence and no matter who you have on your line in this team, they are very good players.”
