Canadian Brown added to Blaze roster
Coventry Blaze are pleased to announce the signing of 24-year-old Canadian forward Brayden Brown for the remainder of the 2021/22 Elite League season.
Brown, 6’1″ and a left-shooter joins the club from Trinity Western University following the conclusion of the USports season.
In 20 games for the Spartans, the versatile Brown who can play wing or centre, tallied five goals, four assists for a total of nine points, in what was the colleges debut season in USports.
Prior to the Spartans joining USports, they participated in the BCIHL (British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League) where Brown iced in 60 regular season games, scoring 31 goals and assisting on 23 others.
He also scored seven goals in eight playoff games during his time in the BCIHL.
The Alberta native was instrumental in helping TWU win back-to-back BCIHL Championships including scoring twice in the 2018/19 deciding game.
He was named Rookie of the Year, while also making the second All-Star team during his first season at the school.
Before committing to Trinity Western University Brayden played junior hockey in the WHL for both the Edmonton Oil Kings and the Calgary Hitmen, while also having stints with the Calgary Canucks of the AJHL.
Brown will wear number 15 and debut for the Blaze against the Nottingham Panthers at the Skydome Arena on Wednesday 2nd March 2022 (7.30pm).
Head Coach Danny Stewart said: “Brayden is young and hungry and provides us with depth going down the stretch. He’s a two-way forward with a good release that can eat up some minutes for us. It was important for us to bring in a body for the stretch as it’s a very busy finish.”
