Board agrees to new signings search
In the absence of a match this weekend Oxford City Star’s Board of Directors met to review the opening of the season and unanimously agreed to the addition of further players to the squad.
Director Paul Lynch said “We’ve looked at where we are and the injuries and depth of squad and we feel we need to add more bodies to the roster. We’ll be speaking to head coach Simon Anderson in the coming days.
Stars Coach didn’t have a weekend off as he took in a few games on the South Coast as part of his scouting and recruitment plans.
The Stars board also wanted to thank the fans for turning up in such big numbers so far but urged more to come along and enjoy the spectacle of live Ice Hockey . Director Russell Shrives said “We want to fill the rink, the more people attend, the bigger the budget for Simon. Get your friends along, tell your work colleagues” Shrives added “If any fans or organisations would like to attend a game, pass the word and get in contact, we’d be happy in getting more people to experience Ice Hockey!”
The Stars board have also been finalising work with their Arena and wanted to thank the management of Oxford Ice Rink for being so supportive. Director James Schall added “The rink and the Stars have such a great relationship now, we’re seeing huge benefits of that all over the place. It’s a shame the actual landlords Oxford City Council aren’t so supportive, more on that we’ll talk to fans about in coming weeks”
Oxford City Stars next game is at home to last season’s champions Chelmsford on Sunday 16th October, face of 6.15. The game will be themed as 80’s night, celebrating the decade with music and prizes for fans.
