Blueliner Games of the Day: Sunday 17th February
It is getting to that time of the year when title races hot up and tonights matches are no exception to that.
Elite League
The Scottish clubs have come south for their matches tonight. Dundee are in Cardiff, Edinburgh face Coventry but our pick is Fife’s trip to Nottingham. The Flyers have often struggled on the road this year but the National Ice Centre is the site of the Flyers memorable first Elite League point and the Panthers have proven to sometimes be a little weak against the teams from the North. However with Belfast out of action tonight the Panthers will be looking to extend their league lead. Also the Hull Stingrays travel to Sheffield in a Yorkshire derby.
English Premier League
The Manchester Phoenix may be thinking that their title hopes are all but over but a win against the Guildford Flames in Manchester tonight may just change that and if the Phoenix could get a strong run then who knows. Elsewhere in the title race Basingstoke are hosting the Milton Keynes Lightning.
National League
The NIHL is all about the title races tonight. Last years playoff finalist in NIHL1 North Billingham and Blackburn meet again in Blackburn just a week after their last meeting. Billingham are currently second whilst Blackburn are fourth in NIHL1 North.
In NIHL2 North just 2 points separeate the top 4 sides and all 4 are in action. Third placed Solihul are hosting fourth placed Sheffield Senators in the pick of the bunch on a night where many changes can happen.
In NIHL1 South Romford are again in action at home to spoilers Invicta as they look to tighten up the title race. In NIHL2 South Invicta Mustangs host the table topping Peterborough Islanders.
