Blackburn Hawks Prospects Programme: Harry Mercer & Kyle Haslam

Blackburn Hawks Prospects Programme.

Introducing Harry Mercer & Kyle Haslam.

These guys are the first of several young Blackburn players who we will be working closely with to ensure their hockey progresses in our new elite pathway. “Hawks Prospects Programme”. This is aimed at giving young Blackburn players the tools to hopefully making it to into the First Team roster in the coming years & beyond. Harry & Kyle have shown they are players to look out for & will be the first of several players training regularly with the Hawks squad. Our programme is aimed at all areas of the game to ensure these young Brits have the technical, tactical, mental & physical skills required to make the transition to the senior game a mentoring programme is also part of the programme, something that many young players never receive. As well as all the hard work in Blackburn this programme will also include trips to Finland to participate in the camps of a true Hockey nation first hand, Hockey specific strength & conditioning programmes will prepare them for the jump to the big leagues with ongoing support as they mature. We believe the depth of this programme will benefit the young athletes at Blackburn & help the Hawks become far more self sufficient in the coming years.

Kyle Haslam:

“Thanks to all those working behind the scenes helping me progress week in and week out. I’m looking forward to joining the Hawks Prospects Programme this season and meeting some new faces around Blackburn Arena. What I learn with the Hawks I will take into my game playing for the under 20’s team spreading the experience throughout the club. Thanks again to all involved”

Harry Mercer:

“I’m really pleased to be asked by Matt (Darlow) to sign for Blackburn Hawks 2016/17 as part of the Hawks Prospect Programme. The last 12 months has been an amazing experience for me, playing for the Blackburn junior under 18’s and 20’s and being the under 20’s captain. My ultimate ambition has always been to play for the Blackburn Hawks and am looking forward to developing and training with this talented team”
