Berkshire Bikes Cup Challenge 2013

Berkshire CyclesThe Bracknell Bees and Berkshire Bikes are delighted to announce the third annual Berkshire Bikes Cup for the 7th and 8th September 2013.

“It is an honour to be associated with this pre-season hockey challenge,” commented Chris Riley, owner of Berkshire Bikes. “Both the Bracknell Bees and Slough Jets are a credit to team sport in Berkshire. The Berkshire Bikes Cup is now a key date in our calendar.”

The previous two years have seen both teams win the cup once each and this season’s competition promises more of the same competitive pre-season action as both teams gear up for the start of the new season. The Bees are on a mission to return the trophy to Bracknell following the Jets’ 6-2 aggregate success in last season’s competition.

The format of the contest is a two-legged aggregate score, and the winning team over the two games will be presented with the Cup after the second game on Sunday at Bracknell.

The first leg of the cup will be played at Slough ice arena with an 18:30 face off, with the decider at the Hive on Sunday at 18:00.

“We are looking to return the Berkshire Bikes Cup to the Hive”, stated Ben Beeching, Co-owner and General Manager of the Bracknell Bees. “This will be the first outing for our new look team and we are expecting a very competitive weekend. It’s a chance for Gareth and the squad to shine. Starting the season with a trophy would be very pleasing. I expect the whole team to put a shift in and give the fans a taste of what to expect throughout the forthcoming season.”

To celebrate the start of the season, the Hive will host a Tailgate Party on the Sunday afternoon prior to the game. Fans will be able to meet the owners, management, players and supporters club as well as participating in an exciting range of family activities and stalls. Full details of this additional event will be announced closer to the time.

“We want to make a real statement to the players, the league, sponsors and the community by packing the Hive”, Andrew Cross, Co-owner and Commercial Director of the Bracknell Bees. “We will be offering a 2-for-1 deal to support the Value for Valour (V4V) scheme, 15% discount on block bookings of 10 or more tickets as well as a £5 upgrade to sit in our VIP seats. Our magnificent Supporters Club will also be showing off their new retail outlet with a new range of merchandise and replica shirts.”
