Belfast Giants take lead into the second leg

The Belfast Giants continued their impressive season, taking a 4 – 1 lead into the second leg of their playoff quarter final against the Hull Stingrays.

Belfast trailed after 20 minutes, Stingrays Omar Pacha converted on the powerplay midway through the first frame, but an impressive second by the Giants secured their lead into the second leg tomorrow night.

Just 34 seconds into the second, Colin Shields drew the scores level before Chris Higgins gave Belfast the lead less than a minute later.

Capping off an impressive five minutes in the second, Jeffrey Szwez made it a 3 – 1 game.
A late goal by Kevin Saurette in the third period made it a 4 – 1 scoreline at the end of 60 minutes, giving the Giants a commanding lead going into tomorrow nights second leg back in Belfast’s Odyssey Arena.
