Bees appearance record holder returns

The Bracknell Bees are delighted to announce that last seasons club Captain Matt Foord has agreed to return to the Bees for what will be his eleventh season overall, over two stints, with the club.

Foord’s career started with the Slough Jets in both the old British National League as well as English Premier League. We has also iced the London Racers, Cardiff Devils and Nottingham Panthers in the Elite Ice Hockey League and has also represented Team GB at Under 18′s level back in 1999.

Matt first donned the Black, White and Gold of the Bees back in 2005 and was with the club for four seasons before heading along the M4 to Swindon for two seasons. He returned to Bracknell and the Bees at the start of the 2011 season and has been with club since then. Over the past six seasons Matt has been an almost ever present member of the squad as has been an Assistant Captain for three seasons and for the last three seasons the club Captain.

With over 700 English Premier League, over 120 British National League and over 50 Elite League appearances (in all competitions) his experience is clear for all to see. Matt has represented the Bracknell Bees over five hundred times over eleven seasons and is the Bracknell Bees leading regular season EPIHL appearance record holder and the Bees overall appearance record holder too.

Having been selected as Coaches Player of the Year on two occasions in 2007-08 & 2016-17, Players Player of the Season in 2011-12, voted by the fans as Best British Player in 2013-14 and also the Unsung Hero by the Supporters Club in both 2014-15 and 2015-16 it is obvious that the fans and players alike appreciate the efforts Foordy has put in whilst wearing the Black, White and Gold of the Bees.

With over one hundred goals for the Bees and two hundred career goals the High Wycombe born utility player is a true team player whose high work rate defines his game. His wealth of experience will be key to the squad in the upcoming season.

Bees Head Coach Scott Spearing said of Foord’s return:
“Foordy is a true leader and brings a wealth of experience to the team. He has a hard working attitude and is willing to put his body on the line night in night out. I’m extremely happy to have him back at Bracknell this year.”

As in previous seasons we are happy to announce that Matt’s jerseys will be available as part of our 2017-18 Own & Loan Jersey scheme.

The Light or Dark jerseys are both available and complete details of the scheme and the jersey designs will be released soon but if you are interested in participating in this great opportunity then please email us at with the details of the jersey you are interested in.

All shirts are sold on a first come, first served basis and the process is that you “own” the jersey and “loan” it back to the player for the season to wear. The jersey will then be presented to the owner at the end of the season at a time and date to be arranged.
