Barron Looking Forward To Sheffield Return
The RTL sponsored Widnes Wild are back in action after a weekend without a game as they travel to face Sheffield Senators at iceSheffield this Saturday 29th October.
The Senators are currently third in the Laidler Conference table with the same number of points as the Wild but having played a game more. The Wild beat the Senators 4-3 at home in their last home game a week ago last Sunday but player coach Ollie Barron still has work to do.
Barron said: “Last Sunday’s game was another good test. I know the Sheffield squad well and know that they are a hard working team with some good players. I felt we dominated large parts of the play but, while heavily out-shooting the Senators, they were always a threat going forward.”
I was pleased with the fight we showed to take control of the game in the third period to take the vital 2 points. We are continuing to work hard in training, implementing systems I want the team to play going forward.”
Our next game against Sheffield will be another tricky fixture on iceSheffield’s bigger ice pad. I expect the game to be a different prospect and one I am looking forward to.”
Ollie is also very appreciative of support that the team is getting from the fans. He said: “Last week’s crowd was great. Thanks to the Wild Ones for creating a great atmosphere – it really does make a huge difference. I hope as many fans as possible can make the trip to Sheffield to cheer us on.“
Widnes Wild travel to play Sheffield Senators at iceSheffield this Saturday in a 7.30pm face off.
The next home game is a week on Sunday – on 6th November – when they face current league leaders Blackburn Eagles at Silver Blades Widnes in a 5.30pm face off.
The Widnes Wild women’s team are in action this Sunday 30th October when they entertain Nottingham Vipers in a Women’s Premier League game. Face off is at 5.30pm and admission is free.
