Barons 10 Dragons 1
With no imports and a few senior players missing this game was never about the result. It was a chance for coach McKenzie to get some competitive ice time for the Dragons in preparation for the coming season.
Solihull is a tough rink to go to even with a full squad, they are a well drilled side and worthy of their place in the division one.
The first period was pretty even with both sides testing the netminders but it was the Dragons that stuck first with a powerplay goal from Scott McKenzie assisted by Parsons and Kennedy.
Thomas Saor equalised for the Barons at the end of the period to make it 1-1 at the first break
In the second period the Barons stepped up their game with four unanswered goal to make 5-1 at the second break
In the third period coach Mckenzie did not ice and watched the game from the stands to enable him to get a better look at the new up and coming players and make a few notes.
The final score finished 10-1 to the Barons but the coach was upbeat about the performance of all the players, he said “the commitment and the effort from the players was immense and I am looking forward to the start of the season”
The Dragons have a double header of challenge games this coming weekend starting on Saturday night at 5pm against the Bristol Pitbulls then on Sunday the face the Bradford Bulldogs on Sunday at 6:30.
