The NIHL2 season kicked up another gear this weekend with the start of the new Cup Competition, as well as two other games in the league after Oxford City Stars won 9- 3 to the Peterborough Islanders earlier on this evening.

London Haringey Racers took on the Invicta Mustangs and sent an message to the league by charging to a 5-0 lead by the first period. After that however, it was a more balanced game, with only one goal scored by each team to make a 7-1 win the hosts.

The NIHL2 Cup got under way with Bristol taking on, and teaching a lesson to, the Swindon NIHL Wildcats. Pitbulls owner Richie Hargreaves and Lithuanian international Egidijus Bauba as they crushed the Wildcats 10-2 to start their cup competition off in style.

Lee Valley took on Chelmsford with the hosts desperate to break their titanic losing streak and with the Lions leading 4-3 with just four minutes left, but the Warriors pulled off a stunning upset to win the match 5-4.

NIHL2 sees just one fixture tomorrow with the Wightlink Tigers hosting the Chelmsford Warriors, who have another double-header. Wightlink will be wanting to make it two wins out of win and continue their solid start to the season while Chelmsford will be wanting to make it a four point weekend.
