Another Two for Phantoms

The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms have tonight announced that both Declan Balmer and Robert Ferrara have agreed to join the club for the upcoming 2013-14 season. Balmer has signed with the team on a full term basis, having played for the Phantoms as part of a 2-way contract with the Solway Sharks lasts season. Balmer is also a Great Britain U18 and U20 International.

Ferrara returns for another season at the Cambridgeshire club, where he will join his brothers Luke and James at his hometown club. Last Season he was named Most Improved Player at the clubs Annual End of Season Awards.

Talking about the signings on Wednesday evening, Phantoms Head Coach Jon Kynaston commented ‘Declan is a player I have worked with over the last couple of years and I like aspects of what he brings. He hits indiscriminately, he doesn’t shy away in the ice and plays with an edge.

‘He will be a player that introduces himself to opponents this season and I am sure by the end of the season will have built his own reputation. Declan fears nobody and nothing and has a solid skills base too.

‘I am delighted he will be here full time and will, without doubt, be an established EPL player very quickly.’

‘Robert, for me, really stepped up last season. He was given a chance and he grasped it with both hands and established himself as a solid D-Man. His challenge now is to follow that up with a standout year, which I know he is capable of.

‘He is a player that is a late developer and his game, I am convinced, can continue to improve further. He is a very dedicated player, and one I am glad to have been able to re-sign to the Phantoms for next season.’
