OXFORD CITY STARS have secured the signing of English Premier League netminder, Tom Annetts from the Bracknell Bees.

The 28 year old has over 200 appearances in the EPIHL under his belt for teams including the Bees, the Slough Jets, the Basingstoke Bison and the Guildford Flames.

Head Coach Simon Anderson is delighted to have captured such a talented player for the Stars, he said: “Having the opportunity to sign someone of Tom’s ability and experience was something I couldn’t turn down once he became available. Tom has played for some first class organisations in the EPL for his whole career and he is going to be a massive signing for us. He is a consummate professional, who will bring a first class attitude and ability to our team. We are excited to have Tom on board and look forward to seeing him in a Stars jersey. “

Unfortunately, somebody was going to have to make way for Tom and so the Stars have announced that young netminder Connor Ranby is free to look for another club.

Anderson said that releasing the 20 year old was a hard decision to make, adding: “Connor is a good goalie at this level and this change had nothing to do with his ability. I just feel that you have to make decisions that are in the best interests of the team and I believe that any time you get a chance to improve your roster you have to do it. I would like to thank Connor for his professionalism and wish him all the best for the future.”

Ranby joined the Stars in the summer from the Coventry Blaze and notched up 8 games under his belt in the yellow and blue, alternating ice time with Oxford’s other young netminder, Shannon Long.  Everybody at the club thanks Connor for his contribution to a successful start to the season for the Stars, and wishes him the very best for his promising hockey career.
