American forward Embach signs for the Clan
Braehead Clan are delighted to announce the signing of left winger Mike Embach from ECHL side Fort Wayne Komets.
The 29-year-old is the 11th player on the roster for 2017/18 and has spent most of his career in North America.
Embach revealed after many conversations with various friends and acquaintances, moving to Braehead and the Elite League was the right move for him.
“Coming to Braehead was the option for me after talking to a few of my buddies,” Embach said. “I know a good few guys that have played in the UK and all of them have said great things about it.
“The biggest draw for them is finishing their schooling or getting their Masters, but I’ve did that over the last three years, so I’m more worried about winning games.
“I spoke to Kyle Flemington, who was at Edinburgh, who was a team-mate of mine, but I also talked to Matt Beca, who was a mutual friend and he spoke highly about everything.
“He made it easy for me, but I have friends that have played all over and their experiences have been positive and it sounds like a fun place to play.
“When you hear so many positive things, it certainly makes you want to be somewhere you want to play. Having spoken to John, I’m excited to get over there and see for myself.
Embach has spent the last four years mostly with the Komets, but has had short stints in the AHL and a brief experience in Europe with Swedish second tier side Leksands IF.
The American, from Illinois, has made over 400 appearances in the ECHL, scoring 154 times and picking up just under 350 points.
Clan coach John Tripp spoke of his qualities and believes Embach is a player that make a difference in the offensive lines.
“Mike’s record across his career has been a good one and well as picking up goals and points on a regular basis, he has a physical side to him,” Tripp said.
“He’s not the tallest player on the team, but he has a lot of heart and all the reports I had were very positive about what he’ll bring to the team.
“I know he was looking to come to the UK and I believe he’s a player that will add something to our offensive game.
“Mike has good numbers in his career and I expect him to continue that when he arrives to play with Braehead Clan.”
Embach will wear the #26 jersey for the new season.
