Adey Focused For Vital Giants Weekend On The Road

The Stena Line Belfast Giants return to the road this weekend as they travel to face the Sheffield Steelers on Saturday and the Edinburgh Capitals on Sunday. To date this season, the Giants have clashed with the Steelers on four occasions and have won three including a 4-2 win when these two teams last met in Sheffield.

Giants Head Coach Paul Adey admits that this weekends’ games are vital for his team’s title charge, starting in Sheffield on Saturday night, “It seems like right now they’re all big games. Going into Sheffield is never an easy game and they’ll want to pick up some points against us and they’re going to come at us pretty hard to start the game.”

Sunday’s game in Edinburgh will be the Giants final Elite League game in the Scottish city this season with the Belfast side losing 5-3 when these two teams last met in Edinburgh in November however the Giants have won both games at the Odyssey Arena this season, “We outplayed and outshot them in that game but they happens when a goalie plays well and we’ll need to be ready for that game,” said Adey.

Adey’s Giants currently sit top of the Elite League, 13 points clear of their nearest challengers and the Head Coach is happy with the team’s morale as they begin to enter the business end of the Elite League season, “Very positive of course, when you’re winning and playing well everybody’s happy. The guys are playing hard and creating good scoring chances. They’re working together as a unit and its paying off.”

The Giants next home game is the Challenge Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg against the Cardiff Devils on Tuesday 28th January at the Odyssey Arena, face-off 7pm. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from the Odyssey Arena Box Office in person or by calling (028) 9073 9074 or online at Ticketmaster.
