Adey And Cheverie Anticipating Friday’s Panthers Battle

On Friday the Stena Line Belfast Giants return to home ice to take on rivals, the Nottingham Panthers – face-off 7pm. Last season’s Elite League champions, the Panthers, arrive in Belfast having already taken two points from the Giants, winning the season’s only game between the sides in late September 3-2. Former Panthers Coach and current Belfast Giants Head Coach Paul Adey knows that a win against the Panthers would be vital, even at this early stage of the season:

“For sure. We want to have a good game and want to get a good result. We’ve played a lot of conference games so far and Nottingham have a lot of games to make up so their schedule isn’t that easy moving forward.”

“Friday is a big game for us, we’re at home so we’re going to come out and play a real strong game.”

Giants Forward, Evan Cheverie, currently sits second in his team’s points standings has experienced many Giants v Panthers battles in the past and knows how important Friday’s game is and how tough it will be to play against Nottingham:

“They have a well balanced team and they’re going to be hungry. It’s always a tough battle with Nottingham as they have a tough offence and a good goalie.”

“We’re going to bring our ‘A-Game’, we’ll be ready, it’s always exciting to play them. Any little bounce could change the outlook of the season. We want to be sharp, we want to be ready and take each shift one at a time – it’s definitely exciting playing Nottingham!”
