7 Reasons To Get To The Belfast Giants This Friday & Saturday!

This Friday AND Saturday in Belfast throws up back-to-back home games for the Stena Line Belfast Giants at The SSE Arena, Belfast! On Friday, the Giants face the Nottingham Panthers with the Dundee Stars Saturday’s visitors – both games face-off 7pm.

Tickets for Friday & Saturday are now on sale from the Arena Box Office either in person or by phoning 028 9073 9074 and online through Ticketmaster by clicking here. Here are your 7 reasons to get to this weekends big games…

1) Because we are chasing Cardiff

Ok, so we are not playing Cardiff this weekend..but the Devils are still the team to beat as they lead the way at the top of the Elite League standings. The Giants are three points behind and, depending on how results go this weekend against Nottingham and Dundee, we could end up in first place come Sunday.

2) Because we have the Moonwalk

All you need to know for this point is:

Two words: Chris Higgins
Two more words: Overtime Winner
One word: Moonwalk

Let’s hope we see it again this weekend!

Watchin’ those highlights got us like…

3) Because Saturday night is Belfast night

On Saturday night we are celebrating all things great about the city of Belfast…especially as it is the capital city of the happiest country in the UK!

This year, Belfast will play host to the Women’s Rugby World Cup, Women’s Under 19 European Football Championship as well as, of course, the International Ice-Hockey Federation World Championship Division 1B and the Friendship Four!

Saturday night sees the Giants take to the ice in specially commissioned Teal Belfast jerseys and all jerseys are up for grabs in the Shirt off the Back raffle with tickets on sale all night at: £2 for 1, £5 for 5, £10 for 15, £20 for 40.

4) Because….Goals!

The last time the Giants & Panthers met, we had 11 goals – with the Giants winning 7-4 in December! When the Giants & Stars played last Sunday, we had 9 goals – with the Giants on the wrong end of a 5-4 loss. One thing we can almost guarantee this weekend…is goals!

5) Because we’ve got solid Defence

Scoring goals is sexy…and so is stopping them! Both Giants goalies, Jackson Whistle and Stephen Murphy, lead the way in the Elite League goalie standings, taking up first and second place. Coach Walser will make his decision on who will start each game this weekend however, whoever plays in goal – we know we are in safe hands back there!

The Giants can also boast the best Penalty Killing record in the league so far this season with an 89.44% success rate in stopping opponents scoring while on the powerplay!
