3 Amigos Re-united

Your 2J Design Sheffield Senators Head Coach Andy Ellis can today confirm the next 3 signings for the upcoming 2013/2014 season.  Sheffield Ice Hockey Academy (SIHA) graduates Luke Smith, Luke Unwin and Tom Proctor will all be wearing the Sens Jersey next term and Ellis is delighted with the prospect of having three great talents in his line-up.  “These 3 guys will add some serious firepower to our team; they are all highly skilled, talented players and have already achieved some big accolades throughout their junior careers.  All three have represented the Midlands Conference multiple times; Proctor and Smith have also represented England during their careers.  They were part of the Under 18 League and National Championship winning Steelhawks team 2 seasons ago; they will now be focussing on the Sens’ assault of the newly formed Laidler Conference.”

Luke Smith has played in Sheffield since under 14’s and has represented the Midlands Conference and England during this period.  He was also part of the Steeldogs Academy prospects programme where he gained valuable experience training and playing with the Sheffield EPL team.  Ellis had this to say about Smithy “Luke is a good talent, he has great speed, good hands and knows where the back of the net it.  I’m looking forward to having him on board again for 2013/2014 and I expect him to put up good numbers playing alongside familiar faces.”

Luke Unwin is an offensive D man who has great hands and is able to start the rush quickly with good outlet passes.  He has fully recovered from the injury which side lined him for the 2012/2013 season and is raring to go.  Ellis added “Unwin is a deceptively skilled player; he has a great shot and uses his size well.  He will add a physical presence to our blue line and will also feature strongly on the powerplay.  I’m expecting our D to contribute more points this year and Luke will play a key part in achieving that.”

Tom Proctor is a very versatile player who is confident playing on the wing, at centre or in defence.  Proctor is highly skilled and can contribute points from anywhere on the ice.  When asked about the ‘Doctor’ Ellis had this to say, “Proctor is without doubt one of the most skilled players I have coached, he has ridiculous hands and a quick release shot that can catch the best goalies unaware.  I’m looking for Tom to play a two-way role this year; he’ll be responsible for anchoring his line together at both ends of the rink.  He is a great coup for this team as he could easily play at a higher level.”

Stay tuned for more signing announcements in the coming weeks.
