The Rumour Mill is Upto Speed

First of all I am going to apologies for my lack of blogging lately but I have been a bit pre occupied. However there will be some good stuff coming up.

Also I just had to mention two rumours currently doing the rounds which made me laugh. I have often spoke out about the need for change in the British League Structure and the general way British ice hockey is ran so when you hear two teams are being courted by the Elite League to join to the ranks for the 2011/12 seasons you think change must be on the way but then you see the first piece of information.

‘EIHL are looking to entice Manchester back into the league and get Fife to join’

This brought a smile to my face as it is something that I wouldn’t put past the EIHL bosses to try but didn’t Neil Morris (Manchester owner) state at the beginning of February that they would be playing in the (second tier) EPL. Whilst the rumour over Fife has been doing the rounds for sometime and yes it would be nice but then you read the second piece of information.

‘Fife looking to make up a 4 import Northern League for next season’

Clearly nobody told the Fife Flyers they would be in the Elite League!

There was also a third piece of information that tells you the first two are as much use as most of what Dave Simms says. (That is British ice hockey fan speak for rubbish). This said that the EIHL were still hoping to ice teams in Newcastle and Edinburgh as well as Manchester and Fife. This at a time when owners such as Paul Ragan and Neil Black have been ranting over the fixture congestion.

But who knows with the way the EIHL runs itself anything is possible especially if it is shallow and not thought out.
