2016-17 Roster: Play-off penalty hero Bobby’s back – and he means business!

Play-off finalists Milton Keynes Lightning continue their recruitment announcements today by announcing the return of exciting young British forward Bobby Chamberlain, on a two year deal.

Bobby was the club’s play-off hero last Saturday in Coventry when he scored the only penalty shot to dump new league champions Basingstoke Bison out of the competition.

Hull-born Bobby, 21, signed for the Lightning last summer from the Manchester Phoenix and scored 18 goals and 25 assists from 53 league games. Those figures make him the club’s fourth highest points scorer for the season.

He has become a favourite amongst the Lightning fans as a fast and committed forward who will stand up for his team-mates, with pace that will keep opposition defenceman working hard.

“I just want to say how excited I am to return to Milton Keynes for another season,” said Bobby. “I’ve enjoyed my time here and since day one – everybody in the team made me more than welcome from the start. I can’t say enough great things about the organisation on how it treats its players – and how amazing the fans are! I was taken aback after returning back from Coventry to see them singing in our stands. It was unbelievable, they have so much passion for the club and it makes it such an easy choice to return.”

He has a good skill set, good strength and battles hard. He’s played a lot of minutes this season and is only still 21 years old. Bobby is a key part of our group – in the dressing room he is a big player, the guys love him.

“Over the last 8 months he’s worked on his game both on and off the ice. He’s very driven to reach his full potential and we’ll do all we can to help him achieve his goals. I know there is more to come from Bobby and am delighted he has agreed to stay.”
