2016-17 Roster: Carsy’s Coming Back!

As the process of forming next season’s roster continues, the presence of a leader on the ice is confirmed this week as Milton Keynes Lightning announce the return of long-standing Captain, Adam Carr.
Known to supporters and team mates alike as ‘Carsy’, Adam joined the Lightning after a stellar 2002-03 season with the Isle of Wight Raiders brought him to the attention of MKL’s then Player-Coach Nick Poole.
Adam made his Lightning debut in autumn 2003 and in his first season helped the team to second place in the EPL and victory in the play-offs, beating Peterborough Phantoms.  The 2016-17 season will be his fourteenth in Milton Keynes.
Head Coach Pete Russell said, “I couldn’t be happier! It’s great news that he’s returning to the line up to lead us into CARR sidenext season.  Carsy is a great person and player – he’s such an important part of the club, on and off the ice.  He’s an honest, reliable and productive two way centre and plays on all our special teams. He does what it takes for the club and for every guy in the locker room – I’m a big fan of his and have enormous respect for him – we work well together for the greater good of the team.
“It’s simple for me – Carsy would have a spot on my team any day of the week. He is our general, has a hell of a lot to offer on the ice and a very important part to our club and of course its great history. I’m sure at some stage in the future we’ll see that number 18 shirt honoured.”
Adam Carr said how happy he was to have re-signed for another year: “It’s a real honour to have played for the team I love, for such a long time. It’s a really special place for me where I have always been made feel welcome by the management, players and great fans.  With Pete coming in last year I knew I’d have to work hard and prove myself to the new coach – and I’m glad I was able to do that.
“It took a while for us to play to Pete’s philosophies but when we did, we showed how good we are. And this is a great platform for us to build on next season. We have a great bunch of lads and a great coach who are all desperate for success, and with the team we are building for next year I’m sure we’ll get it!
“I know we are moving to the Elite league in a year’s time but that is a long way away but we have an exciting year ahead to look forward to before that.  It’s time to focus on the play offs this weekend – we have a great chance to win a trophy that we haven’t won in a long time. We can’t wait to get up to Coventry with our great fans behind us and give it everything we have to bring that trophy back home!”
Adam Carr’s jerseys are immediately available for sponsorship at £200 each for light or dark jerseys and £125 for warm up.  The name of the sponsor will be displayed on the back of each jersey, included on our website and match programme and announced at the start of every game where it is worn – then it’s presented to its owner at the end of the season.  To sponsor, email dave@b2promodesign.com.
