The Sheffield Spartans are pleased to announce the return of Dave Pyatt & Andy Cook.
Andy Cook & Dave Pyatt
Pyatt was voted the Spartans “Best Defenceman” last season by his teammates and is a very important part of the defensive unit. Dave has a wealth of experience having previously played at BNL level with the Hull Stingrays. He reads the game very well and is not afraid to play the body.
Pyatt: “This new season sees a few new faces on the ice for the Spartans. The biggest change is a full time coach in Martin white and I’m looking forward to working with him to help develop the team. With the threat of relegation removed due to the new conference system hopefully fans will be able to see the Spartans flare return. Spartans will again be attempting to prove they are more than capable of mixing it with the teams paying players and push for a place at the playoff weekend.”
‘Cooky’ was new to the Spartans last season, moving to Sheffield for university and previously played for the Whitley Warriors. He is a young, quick D-man and is one of the fittest players on the team, which is clear with his performances at the Spartans Prime Mover gym sessions.
Cooky: “I am really looking forward to another season with the Spartans and working with Martin White again. Since moving down to Sheffield last year I feel I’ve settled well within the team and now hope I can contribute to a successful season and push for a play-off spot. The league looks highly competitive again this year but I’m sure with our team spirit we will be a match for anyone on our day”.
Unfortunately Andrew Turner will not be returning for the 2013-14 season. Andrew has decided to take some time away from hockey to concentrate on his career. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrew for all his efforts as a Spartan over the last six seasons. I’m sure we will see him down at the rink supporting the lads this season and hopefully he’ll back wearing a Spartans jersey in the future.
More player announcements to follow.
